There are plenty of amazing places to camp around Texas, but this one will really make you feel like you're out in the wild. Palmetto State Park is a gorgeous state park just an hour outside of Austin that will give you the greatest scenery and outdoor experience ever.
The park offers visitors a chance to spend the night under the stars and to play all day in the sparkling water. They offer a variety of equipment to rent including four-person paddle boats, three-person canoes, one-person kayaks, and a fishing boat for visitors to use on the lake. Of course, if you don't want to rent out any equipment, you can score big at the lake instead. You can bring your own fishing equipment, as long as you have a state fishing license.
The park has 19 tent sites and 18 RV sites. They also offer a group camping site that their website claim suits 99 people.
Camping at the park starts at $12 and works its way up depending on accommodation, RVs and number of people. The park suggests you call and make a reservation for your site at least three weeks in advance.
The busiest times for campers to visit is anytime between March and November.
If you want to visit the park but don't necessarily feel like spending the night, you can visit the park for $3 from 8:15 a.m. to 4:45 p.m
You can also rent a picnic pavilion for the day in case you want a designated spot to set up camp until the park closes.
