Kayaking is a great outdoor sport that only gets better with grand Texas views and we have plenty! One of the more breathtaking Texas views can be found on the Colorado Bend River State Park's amazing river. The park has all sorts of views that just can't be missed. From Gorman Falls to Spicewood Springs, there is just so much to see here.
While you can hike to most of the places in the giant park, kayaking might be the more refreshing way to explore. When the water is at the right levels, you can kayak around the park and even a little beyond it. Though it might be tempting, we don't recommend climbing on any of the rocks or other parts of the park as they can be very fragile.
Spending a day out on the river is the perfect idea for a day trip this summer. Even just enjoying the park that is on land will bring so much happiness to your weekend. This gorgeous spot also isn't too far of a drive from Austin or Waco when compared to other gorgeous Texas must-see places like Palo Duro Canyon or the Devils River, so you can definitely stop by for just a day!
Visitors can bring their own equipment or you can rent one from the park themselves in singles or doubles for around $20. If you just can't get enough of this beautiful place, you can also camp at the park for just $10 and prices go up depending on the amenities you choose.
The parks daily fee is $5 and they are open every day of the week but we do advise checking on their website for any last minute closings or time changes. Gates to the park are open from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. so you can feel free to stop during that time. If you are camping overnight, you must call before 4:30 p.m. to get an access code.
Colorado Bend State Park is located at 2236 Park Hill Dr, Bend, TX 76824. For more information on the park and to book your camping experience, you can visit their website here.
