Halloween fans are counting down the days that they can jump into their skeleton costumes and spook away the day, but October just seems so far away. Luckily, there's actually a place in Kissimmee that lets you get your freaky fix year round - and it's absolutely spooktacular.
Mortem Manor is the only haunted house in the Orlando/Kissimmee area to be open year-round and is the perfect place for adrenaline addicts. This huge 2-story Victorian-style manor is a bursting, thrilling, spookfest featuring animatronics, haunts, and special effects around every corner. The best time to go is late at night, so you can get the eerie feel of the manor lit up in the darkness.
The real test of bravery comes in the form of their buried alive experience. The "Last Ride" burial simulator is an extreme, solo, horror experience that will push your senses to the edge. You'll be placed on your back in their creaky coffin and sealed into total darkness, all by yourself. You'll hear sounds, feel movements, smell the roses and dirt, and ultimately your decay as you lay in your final resting place. The buried alive experience is pretty cheap too, so it definitely doesn't hurt to tack it on to your spooky tour through Mortem Manor.
They were named one of the scariest haunted houses in the entire U.S. by the Travel Channel, and we can definitely see why. If you don't think you can make it through this holy haunted hell, the Travel Channel took the liberty of doing that for you in this Youtube video they shared below.
Overall this place is perfect for the heart of the horror fanatic, and won't break your bank for a full and immersive experience. Mortem Manor is only $15 to explore 2 stories of scares, and their buried alive experience is only $5. It can satisfy your need for screams until the massive horror convention coming to Tampa rolls around this fall.
If you're ready to test your bravery at one of the scariest haunted houses in America, Mortem Manor is located at 5770 W Irlo Bronson Memorial Highway, Kissimmee, FL, 34746. Get spooked Monday and Tuesday by appointment only, 6 pm - 10 pm on Wednesday and Thursday, 6 pm - 12 am Friday and Saturday, or 6 pm - 11 pm on Sundays.
