York Regional Police have now arrested a second suspect in connection with the armed kidnapping of 22-year-old Wanzhen Lu. According to the YRP news release, a search warrant was obtained for a Brampton residence on Tuesday, April 2nd, 2019, where officers arrested a 33-year-old man.
The suspect is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Newmarket today. According to police, his identity will be released once after he has heard his charges in court. The first man to be arrested in connection to the case, Abdullahi Adan, is currently being held in police custody and will appear in court for a second time this Friday for his bail hearing.
York Police had previously released two photos of Adan on Monday. Adan was one of four suspects who abducted Lu from a black Dodge van in the underground parking garage of a condominium. One of the suspects used a stun gun to incapacitate Lu and force him into the vehicle.
Lu’s horrifying ordeal came to an end last Tuesday after he turned up at a residence on Doe Lake Road in Gravenhurst, Ontario. The man who found Lu recalled how he’d been walking his dog when it began barking at something moving in the dark. According to CityNews, the man heard a voice and decided to take matters into his own hands and investigate, which is where he found a very confused Lu stumbling around in the dark.
